The BHS Guide to Forklift Battery Room Best Practices

In August 28, 2015

BHS Best PracticesThe battery room is an integral part of the day-to-day operations of any warehouse, and it is imperative to include its layout in the original floor plan of any warehouse. The location of the battery room should minimize the time spent traveling between the room and other work areas. If the industrial lift truck fleet is dispersed throughout the warehouse or distribution center, a centrally located battery room would be most efficient. For companies where industrial lift truck usage is primarily isolated to a specific area, it is recommended to locate the battery room near the area of highest usage. In larger environments, multiple battery rooms should be considered, and technologies such as forklift battery changers and fleet tracking software can improve efficiency substantially.

The BHS Battery Room Best Practices Guide is a collection of recommendations made by individuals experienced in battery room design for a nonspecific battery room. Every battery room is different, and each recommendation should be thoroughly considered prior to execution. We highly recommend taking some time to review the sheet, then DOWNLOAD the BHS Battery Room Survey to see how yours checks out!
